You need to slide forward the driver`s seat to expose the battery loosen the 13mm bolt at the base of battery , then loosen the earth strap bolt ( might be 13mm or 10mm ) Then loosen the positive terminal the same way . lift out the battery .
Make sure you have the code for your radio as you will loose this when you change the battery .
Insert the new battery connect the positive lead first , then the negative , then put the clamp back on .
to install the code for the radio :
if your code is for example 2345 press the number 1 button until it get`s to number 2 , press the 2 button till it get to number 3 , on so on press the number 5( on some model`s it is number 6) to enter the code .
If however you do not have the code take out the radio and email me the serial number and i will send you the code for your radio ( for free ) some places will charge you 拢15 for the code !

Get a metal coat hanger cut 2 length`s ( using pliers or side cutter`s ) approx 6'; long bend the wire into a '; u '; shape and insert them into the holes at the side of the radio pull them both at the same slightly pulling them opposite each other then remove the radio .

Anyhow, you always take the ground/negative/earth/black lead off first and put it on last. The reason is because if you short the wrench to the chassis while you're taking the ground off, it doesn't matter. And once the ground is off, it doesn't hurt if you short the wrench to the chassis while you're taking the positive/+/red/hot/sky? lead off.

There should be a 13mm bolt which screws into the battery shelf
May need a ratchet handle and long extension ber for this
The 13mm bolt hold the battery in place with a clamp that Clamps over the edge of the battery so it can't fall off.
Before refitting the battery make sure everything is switched of in the van and if it has central locking keep the door key in your pocket best of luck.
Lift the drivers seat up exposing a cover lift that gently,exposing the battery loosen the negative terminal first(black) then Positive then you need a 10mm socket and ratchet or like.Look inside batt compartment toward centre you will see a 10mm bolt remove,Next look on outside of batt comp toward drivers door you will see another 10mm bolt next look back inside batt comp toward rear the final 10mm bolt will be visible remove all these and the clamp will lift out enabling removal of battery.
Disconnect the earth first,then the live,loosen clamps at base of battery and remove.Do the opposite to refit.
On most Fords there's a securing plate with a bolt through it that grips the bottom lip on edge of the battery at one side, it is usually a 13 mm nut, be carefull not to drop it. It's right at the bottom edge of the battery, clamping the battery to the battery tray, and it's usually quite corroded and difficult to reach, so give it loads of WD40 first, and take a torch.

I am from the US and we can't buy a Transit which sucks because the Sprinter is the closest match and there is a supply problem and can't buy one. I need one for my mobile auto repair business. Never seen a Transit but I can give you basic info on replacing your battery. Over here Fords have 3 styles of battery hold down clamps. The most popular the other guys already spoke of. Some vehicles there is alot of crap in the way where these stupid auto engineers can't build a car where mechanics like me can't do a simple job without charging the customer alot of labor. Heck a few cars you have to take a tire off, go figure. If your van is like that, just think about what will make your job easier. Remove everything close by. That battery is heavy and you don't want to break anything if you accidently drop it pulling it out. If it is the one that has the 13mm clamp bolt then just follow their instuctions. The other type that is similiar is the one that has either a 8 or 10mm long bolt to the hold down block. These break pretty easily so spray it down with lube first--%26gt; You have to think like these stupid engineers. The last type which is like most other cars is that it has 2 long bolts with hooks on them with a bracket connecting them. Those hooks go into the battery tray and nuts at the top tighten down to hold the battery in place. Your van is somewhat new so you shouldn't have too much of a problem with bolts breaking but you never know. Just remember hard turn = hard lube.

Most batteries are held in place with some type of clamp which is bolted to the tray that it resides on. You would, therefore, need to disconnect the terminals (positive first) then undo the bolt(s) holding the clamp in place. The battery should then just lift out.
all you need is a 10mm spanner for the terminals and a 10mm socket for the clamp which is down the side of the battery,, if you lose your stereo code let me have the serial number of stereo and i will give you the code

You mean for the remote clicker? I took my boyfriend's and threw it against the wall and it opened right up. That was of course by accident and I don't advise you do it to yours. I have the same clicker as you, I have a Saturn and that's a universal part. If you look at the bottom right corner of the remote it has a wider opening for you to insert something to open it right up. It's gonna take a little elbow grease but once you find something to pop it open it'll work. Did you try the car key itself? Or perhaps a butterknife?

Well, if you plug it into a wall... you bought a dud. Wall-amps run off of electricity, and shouldnt need an batteries, or it just dosent work anymore...

I have an easy way for this to be done. drive the car to an auto parts store and when you tell them what car you have they will get you the right battery and install it for you. for example autozone or equivalent. If the car won't run you need to open the hood, take the bar off that covers the battery. Take the battery hold down off. and take the terminals loose. Make sure you take the negative off first, then lift the battery out. By the way you do not have the eco tech motor.How do you change a battery in a 2001 Grand Am? See Details?

You need to pull at each end REALLY HARD and it will come apart in two pieces. Now the part that has the buttons you will have to use a small screwdriver and pry it apart . After prying it apart the battery is right there. If you dont feel comfortable doing it take it to a VW dealer and let them do it for you, it will cost like $20, but a new key is $90, and another $30 to get it programmed to your car.

Many auto supply stores will do this for free. If this is not th problem you may need a tune up or have a mechanic check to see if there are other issues,

You can buy a long pole at the Home Depot or similar store that is ment for changing light bulbs in high places. Use the pole to unscrew the detector (usually 1/2 turn) from its mouting plate. It is a bit tricky, but it can be done.
I believe Home Depot would rent ladders, if not, check your yellow pages.

How often do I need to change car battery or car tyres?
What ';signs'; do i look for that tells me I might need to change them... apart from having a flat or stalled car of course lol.

AS A GENERAL RULE---
Most car batteries are good for from 3-5 years, depending on the quality and the degree of maintenance.
As for the telltale signs of failure, there aren't many other than the car begins to crank over a little slow. The only other sign is the car won't start in the morning.
There are signs that the mechanic sees, but you won't notice it because you aren't checking it and probably don't have the equipment.
As for tires, those are easier to check.
If you look closely at the tread pattern, at the bottom of the grooves, you will see little raised bars that run across the entire tread. When you can see them clearly, and they are as exposed as the tread, the tires are no longer safe or legal.
These are the 'safety bars' that are cast into the rubber to identify when they have reached a tread depth less than 2/32';.
You can also tell it is time when you place a penny with Lincoln's head toward the tread. If you can see the top of his head, you have less than 2/32'; remaining.
It is smart to not allow them to get this worn, because this is the absolute minimum tread. It is best to keep at least 4/32'; (1/8';) tread depth, and then begin to look for sales.
Replace them with the size recommended by the manufacturer, and replace them in matching pairs left to right.
Keep them inflated properly (check the owner's manual or the driver's door post) for longer tire wear and safety, not to mention the fuel economy.

Once you have removed the cover the battery will slide out with a little shake.

I saved my instructions! Apparently it doesn't tell you which one to do, but it has PICTURES on how to use it. It looks like you twist off the cap. Then you pull the cap apart from both sides, then take a pen and press it in the little hole thing so that the battery comes out.
If this doesn't make sense, then just view the pictures that I uploaded haha. If you end up taking the battery out, it will probably say what kind it is and you can find it at the drug store or something!

I saved my instructions! Apparently it doesn't tell you which one to do, but it has PICTURES on how to use it. It looks like you twist off the cap. Then you pull the cap apart from both sides, then take a pen and press it in the little hole thing so that the battery comes out.
If this doesn't make sense, then just view the pictures that I uploaded haha. If you end up taking the battery out, it will probably say what kind it is and you can find it at the drug store or something!

if there is not a small screw, then check the edges for a small slot and use a small flathead screw driver to pry gently open. inside, you should find a circle shaped silver battery. walgreens or radio shack should carry them. a lot of times the dealer won't charge to replace the battery but they'll mark the battery up a few bucks.

How does Thomas the Tank Engine open so I can change its battery?
My daughter received a battery-powered Thomas the Tank Engine set from her grandparents--how had taken the liberty to set it up for her so she could play with it immediately. If it's the blue one with the plastic blue track you have to squeeze the right center wheel and left center wheel. Thomas has 6 wheels so the 2 center wheels, after squeezing, will make the top portion pop off. Then you put in a size AA battery.
That plastic blue track Thomas is my son's favorite...but really really really really hard to open. I don't have the strength in my hands to do it...my husband does it. You will feel like you're breaking it.
Most of the other ones have a screw that opens. If the train has a coal car (henry and emily both do), you just pop the top off the coal car and use a size C battery.How does Thomas the Tank Engine open so I can change its battery?

On that car, you have to jack up the car and take off the right front (passenger side) wheel, along with the plastic wheel well cover. You can remove the battery connections from under the hood but it's almost impossible to remove the battery from there.

Special tools are needed. Even if you chisel off the back yourself, the battery is held in with a special kind of ';rivet';. You can't get it out without ruining the watch. Then, you need the pressure sealer to close it.
I suggest you call around and price check other companies. Also, the manufacturer will do the service if you contact them. However, you would have to send the watch to them and it could take up to 6 weeks to get it back. Also, they do charge but it might be less than a Certified Service department and you know the job will be done right.

I have a feeling this is going to be an embarrassingly obvious answer but basically. I want to get the battery out so I can charge it. I have looked everywhere but I can't seem to find any instructions in removing the left side panel. Can anyone please explain to me how to do it?

It is completely normal for an engine to be harder to start in any way when it's cold. The oil is more thick which will cause the parts to slide less easily against one another.

I've found out in order to remove the battery cover you need to first remove the seat then the battery cover can be carefully pulled out.
Although be careful not to lose the washers or the little metallic blocks with the holes in, that are just under the battery terminals
