If i change the battery of the laptop is it going to erase everything on the laptop?

And one more thing how much does changing the battery cost?If i change the battery of the laptop is it going to erase everything on the laptop?
no. your data is *not* stored in the battery! If i change the battery of the laptop is it going to erase everything on the laptop?
Hard drives do not require power to retain memory (SSD does, I believe). Memory is stored through notches burnt into a rotating disc similar to optical drives, just more effective. You can take your hard drive out and put it in a different computer and your information will still be there.

So in short, changing the battery will NOT lose your data.
No it won't erase anything. New batteries range from $50 - $150.
Cost can range from $30-$100 for a new battery. Go to the maufacturers website and click on support or accessories. It helps to know what model too.

No, nothing is hurt by removing the battery, just SHUT DOWN first. Once the computer is quiet, go for it.
It won't effect the files stored on your harddrive. Batteries can be as expensive as $100. and don't buy an off brand, buy a real Dell or HP or whichever kind of computer it is, the cheap ones that aren't the real brand dont last as long in my experiences.
If you mean the battery you don't have to take apart the computer to change, it's fine. There's a small battery connected to the ROM, which is SSD memory, that ensures the basics will always be there (time and date settings, etc.) A regular hard drive will be unaffected, because they function in a similar manner to optical drives, except with MAGNETS. There's no burning, first guy that answered. The only way to really destroy a hard drive is to: A: destroy it (hammer or something), or B: take out the hard drive and put it next to a strong magnet or an MRI machine.

Yes, you can switch the battery. That's why laptops have such a convenient and easy to use button or latch which releases the battery. Or mine does anyway.
