How do i change a battery in my laptop?

My laptop battery isn't working anymore, i know it is definately not the charger as i've used two different chargers, these both work in my Mum's laptop fine. I've learnt from an IT course that i need to use a wrist strap for working inside a laptop but is this classed as working inside the computer? Thanks in advanceHow do i change a battery in my laptop?
You don't need to have a static discharge bracelet to change the battery because you won't be going into the computer.

What you need to do is find a replacement, either from the manufacturer or elsewhere and just swap it over.

There should be some sort of latch or button on the bottom of the laptop.

Rechargeable batteries all have a finite life and a limited number of charges. How do i change a battery in my laptop?
Call up the company that made your laptop and tell them you need a new laptop battery. You just have to tell them exactally which computer it is.
No, you don't need a wrist strap. The battery is attached to the bottom of the unit, and can be removed usually by pressing a lever or button to unlock the battery from the case. They you replace it with the replacement battery.
On my HP I move two tabs and it just slides out.
most laptop batteries can be accessed without opening the laptop case. check your user manual or look it up on the internet. If you look on the bottom you'll probably see a release button. you can order new batteries on-line.
dont bother with a wrist strap, their a waste of time, if you feel nervious about this, just touch anything thats made of metal in your house thats earthed like your water taps
Refer to your laptop's manual. It's different on just about every model. Most batteries either snap or slide out in one way or another. It's rare to find one anymore where you have to actually open up the computer to get at it.
