How long it take for a 2000 eclipse to relearn to idle after changing battery?

My dad changed my battery yesterday and now my 00 eclipse gt kills itself when I come to a stop or have it in park and dont give it gas.

Two mechanics told me that the memory can go lost and it needs to relearn how to idle? How long can this take?

Thanks in advance! How long it take for a 2000 eclipse to relearn to idle after changing battery?
Hold your foot on the gas pedal a little to help it idle until the engine reaches normal operation temperature. Hold just enough throttle to keep it from dying, don't rev it and don't raise the rpm much above idle rpm during the warm up. Then release the throttle as the computer learns and maintains idle (although the idle will probably be erratic and rough for awhile) and allow it to idle until the idle smoothes. When the engine temp is in the normal operating range and the idle is fairly smooth, then shut the engine off for a few minutes and restart it and then go for a drive. Do some stop and go driving for about 5 or 10 minutes with both light and heavy throttle starts from a stop. The idle at stops may be erratic at first and it may attempt to die at the first couple stops and it might even die, but that will change as the computer learns. After about 5 or 10 minutes of stop and go driving or once it idles normal at every stop, then take it for a highway drive and do a few wide open throttle passing gear kickdowns, holding the throttle wide open until it kicks out of passing gear. Doing all that on a computer reset/relearn will help the computer learn optimal air-fuel mixture control at both city and highway throttle settings. How long it take for a 2000 eclipse to relearn to idle after changing battery?
The computer should reset itself within a week or so. Right now the computer is getting readings from sensors with many miles on them but thinks they should have 0 miles on them.
HI

never heard of that before?? but I'm an ';old car'; car guy..

good luck
